Oops...

...long time, no post! I am currently drowning in a sea of felt and buttons, trying to get all my Christmas decorations for my Folksy shop finished and wotnot! Here's a peek at what I've been up to...I'll try not to go AWOL again! :o)

Long time, no post!

Oops. Bad Kate. What can I say?! I have been distracted by the horror of learning to drive and have signed up for one of those intensive driving course thingymejigs! I now feel like I don't do anything other than sit in a car, stalling and wailing! Meeps and wibbles.

Anyways, to make up for my absence here is a nice piccie of a few bits and pieces I have managed to make when I've had a spare five minutes...
I was asked to make the Russian doll with a black, red and white theme and I'm pretty pleased with how she turned out. She is most definitely a major improvement on previous versions which, for reasons that elude me, have mostly turned out with square-shaped heads. Strange...

Going to the chapel...

Remember this?

Well, here's the finished result! There are a few bits I would probably do differently in hindsight but it was my first attempt at a customised piece and so all in all, I'm quite pleased with it!

Custom design...

A sneaky-peek of a design for a custom piece I'm working on at the moment. I'm so glad that other people share my enthusiasm for ickle gingerbread men (and ladies)!

Run, run, as fast as you can...

...and catch yourself a custom gingerbread man garland (with handmade pom-poms!), fresh from the oven and unique to you! Om nom nom! Entirely hand-cut and hand-stitched, all my gingerbreads are made from soft biscuit-coloured acrylic felt (courtesy of the lovely Fuzzyfish of PaperFish fame!) and as she stocks all sorts of gorgeous colours, I think I may indulge in a bit more!
Dare I say it, but I think I may actually prefer acrylic felt to the wool-mix stuff, it's not quite as soft, obviously, but still enormously tactile and not at all like that really nasty scratchy stuff that masquerades as felt. This stuff cuts like a dream with no fraying and it holds its shape really well, and if that isn't enough for you, it's extremely eco-friendly as it's made entirely from recycled plastic bottles...what more could you want?!
For further details on this (hopefully!) irresistible piece of cuteness, follow this here link! ;o)
